Road Construction Projects

Road projects

Our past road construction projects

With over 50 years of civil industry experience, Coastwide Civil has been contracted to work on a diverse range of major road construction and roadworks projects across the state. Working on projects in excess of $100 million, we've delivered high quality outcomes for clients that includes everything from realignment to paving and grading, road excavations, footpath and bridge construction, and more.

Some of our most impressive past marine works projects have included:

Hanson Quarry Haul road realignment

The Hanson Quarry is located in Bass Point, New South Wales, and as part of a large- capacity upgrade project required realignment to its haul road.

This $4.6 million project included the realignment of a 1km section of road – comprising of the bulk filling with overburden to the underside of pavement level, the excavation of service trenches, laying of conduit for future use, and the construction of multiple stormwater catchment drains.

This project was completed in March 2017, ahead of schedule and under budget.

Shell Cove Harbour Boulevard

The Harbour Boulevard in Shell Cove, New South Wales, is one of the more recent road projects that Coastwide Civil has undertaken. Harbour Boulevard is a vital road in the Waterfront Precinct, and its development was jointly undertaken by Frasers Property Australia and the Shellharbour City Council.

The 1.5km stretch of Harbour Boulevard with three roundabouts and two culvert bridges was the first stage of the road project, and this total project was completed four months ahead of schedule and under budget. Our clients were pleased with their performance and the successful completion of this milestone in the overall Shell Cove Marina project.

Princes Highway realignment

The Princes Highway is the main thoroughfare for traffic travelling between Sydney, Wollongong, and the South Coast of New South Wales. The Princes Highway Conjola Mountain upgrade was a major government-funded infrastructure project, and was located approximately 46 kilometres south of Nowra.

The $53 million project involved the upgrade of a 3.5km section of the highway that contained a dangerously steep and winding descent from the north to a narrow bridge at Conjola Creek. The project realigned the highway to improve safety and travel conditions for road users.

The contract was awarded to BMD Construction, who approached Coastwide Civil to carry out the deep rock excavation, major rock batter construction, the road sub-grade preparation, and all the pavement works.

Northern Distributor extension

Funded by the NSW Government, the Northern Distributor project consisted of a 3km four- lane carriageway between Bellambi and Bulli. The project included bridges, footpaths, and cycleways, and was valued at a total of $101 million.

The contract was won by Reed Construction, who contracted Coastwide Civil to do all the bulk earthworks operations to RTA R44 specifications. Coastwide Civil completed a large portion of the works, including the construction of sedimentary ponds and the pavement/roadway construction. The project was successfully completed by our dedicated team of experienced engineers, surveyors, and skilled operators, using our fleet of plant and equipment.
